Three-Hundred Bloomington-Normal Residents Stand Up Against Racism!

Hundreds of immigrant rights supporters marched through downtown Bloomington on Monday evening, to urge local officials to pass a "Welcoming City" ordinance. The event was part of the greater "Keep Families Together" campaign, which is centered in efforts to protect immigrant families in McLean County.

The march began at the McLean County Museum of History and culminated with a rally at Bloomington City Hall, welcoming the newly sworn-in Bloomington city council members. As the crowd waved a sea of bright paper butterflies, chanted, and sang songs, speakers from local civil rights organizations spoke out, calling on the council to enact a "Welcoming City" ordinance.
